Introduction to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024

Having been in this industry for over a decade, I feel like I’ve seen it all when it comes to the Nordstrom Anniverary sale.

From staying up until 3am EST for sale to drop West Coast time and create collages as fast as possible 6 years ago to now being borderline “over it.” Navigating the sale is so different now than it was half a decade ago.

How to Prepare for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024

The biggest difference is the shift in consumerism. We are so burnt out by creators posting the 1000 things you need from the sale. Creators are burnt out too.

If I see one more person tell me that there is an urgency to get a barefoot dreams blanket that is 40% off year-round at Nordstrom Rack, I might scream.

Seeing people suggest you open a Nordstrom credit card to shop the sale, I’ll also scream. If you already have a card, great, I do too but I can think of 0 compelling reasons why you would need to open up a card for this sale in 2024. Early access just isn’t the same as it used to be. The things that I recommend shopping for like my favorite t-shirt bras, will come back in stock by the time it opens to the public. In the however many years of this sale, they always do and I can’t imagine they won’t this year too.

• Public Access: July 15-August 4

Shopping Tips for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024

• Check for Restocks During the Sale:
  Some people get bit by the urgency bug and buy everything out of fear that it will go out of stock and then return it. If there’s something you absolutely love that says out of stock, you should keep checking. Often there are early allocations of products set before it goes live to the public. You may see it may be out of stock during early access, but then is back in stock once it goes public. Even if you have early access, I do recommend giving it another browse once it’s open to everyone.
  
• Check to See if You’re Actually Getting a Deal: Just because it has the yellow “Anniversary Sale” tag doesn’t mean that it’s a deal. Like I said before, that darn Barefoot Dreams blanket is literally always on sale in LITERAL bins at Nordstrom Rack.
  • The easiest way that I cross check if something is actually a deal is by typing the name of the item into Shopstyle.com and check the “On Sale” box on the filters
    
• Consider Holiday Shopping: If you’re not a holiday shopping procrastinator like I am, the beauty and home category is great for gifts.

Best Categories to Shop in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024

• Wardrobe Staples in the Nordstrom Sale: Focus on essentials like jeans, coats, and underwear. I’m honestly always unimpressed by the shoes except for the Rag & Bone bootie era circa 2014.
  
• Beauty and Skincare Deals at Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2024: In the past, I’ve gotten things like large Le Labo handsoap or stocked up on the 3 pack of DKNY deodorant which I’ve used for years.
  
• Home Goods in the Nordstrom Sale 2024: Ok I do have to say one of my few N Sale items purchased that has turned out to be one of my favorites is the indoor vegetable grower from Click & Grow. It’s also a good time to get luggage (I saw there’s some Beis in there)!
  
• Designer Deals at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Of course what put this sale on the map used to be how great the designer deals were. I honestly thing this ship has sailed years ago but the Celine sunglasses are fun!
