The best time to book a massage for the best self-care
I don't know if there's a "normal" time to schedule a massage appointment, but I've always booked my appointments in the afternoon when I know I have nothing else to do the rest of the day or on a weekend. My latest lifestyle hack though is that the best time is actually in the morning. On a weekday. Even when you have a thousand things to do that day.
I just assumed I'd be so out of it or wouldn't feel motivated to work if I did it at any other time of the day, but when Massage Heights invited me in for a massage on a Friday morning, I just couldn't say no - because I mean I'd have to be crazy to turn down a massage.
I'm not going to lie, part of me was really wondering if I was signing up for low productivity the rest of the day with a 9am massage on a weekday, but it actually turned out to be the complete opposite.
I have the tendency to move fast. I wake up and just start going until literally the second before I fall asleep.
I know how important self-care is and how important for me especially it is to slow down, but it's so hard.
My best days are the ones where I start the morning slow and end the evening slow so now in hindsight, it makes total sense that starting my day with a relaxing massage - where I'm forced to do nothing else set my day up for success.
So there I was walking in at 8:45am on a Friday thinking about all the things I needed to do, but accepted my fate that I was going to be doing NOTHING for the next hour.
I was greeted so warmly by the staff at Massage Heights at the Ward Parkway location in Kansas City and I started to quickly forget about my to do list for the day (THIS IS NOT EASY FOR ME).
I went on a tour which was amazing because I didn't realize just how big it is, which means you don't have to wait weeks in order to get in. Because let's be real, if you're booking a massage you probably need it ASAP.
One of the things that really stood out to me was that they have rooms where you can get a facial and a massage without having to switch rooms. Because let's be real - how annoying is it when you get a massage and are so relaxed and then all of a sudden they're like ok now you need to get up, go back to the waiting room until we're ready for your next service. This makes it so that you can just be fully immersed in the experience and seems like common sense!!
The massage was exactly what I needed and I realized afterwards that I felt so relaxed but rejuvenated at the same time. I wasn't so out of it that I couldn't get my things done the rest of the day. If anything, I set myself up for success because I wasn't running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get everything done.
I have to thank the Massage Heights team for helping me realize this new "lifestyle hack" of mine (massages on weekday mornings) because it's one more thing that's getting me closer to slower mornings which means even better days.
