Charcoal Water Filter for on the go
I am a huge fan of charcoal and its versatility. It's kind of the coconut oil because it has so many random uses that you would seem totally unrelatable. I was so excited to finally try out charcoal in the charcoal water filter form.
In the past, I've used charcoal in three ways.
+ As a toothbrush for teeth whitening
+ As a charcoal pill for debloating and preventing hangovers (I swear by this)
+ In drinks like charcoal lemonade the one from Juice Served Here in LA is my fave and their charcoal cream pictured below The one from Pressed Juicery is yummy too, but if you're in KC the one from Unbakery is good too! But I could go on a tangent on my fave juices for daysss.
I've been wanting to try out using charcoal for water filtering for a while now, but just never got around to it. Lucky for me it showed up in my most recent Leaf TV Year of Wellness Box.
For their "Glow" box, one of the items was the Kishu Charcoal To Go. The To Go size means that it's perfect for smaller bottles and water bottles for when you're out on the go.
What surprised me the most about the charcoal filter was the ease of use. You just take it out of the box and drop it in your water. And it just does it's thing right away.
After just an hour or two of having it in, I took a sip of the water (I usually drink tap because I keep forgetting to order a new Soma filter.) and it taste just like delicious and fresh filtered water. So good that I realized why in the world have I been drinking Missouri tap water?!
The maintenance of it is super easy too.
That little piece of charcoal is going to last you up to 4 months. All you have to do is once of month boil it to keep the pores open. SO EASY. They even give you a little "boil guide" so that you can keep track of how many times you've boiled it so you remember to get a new one.
And for those of you who love things that have as much use as possible, after the four months it has another life to live.
You can then repurpose it as a freshener for your fridge or use it for your garden's soil.
