How to dress for a warm winter day
This past weekend, it was summertime in Southern California. With temperatures in the low 80s, I couldn't have chosen a better time to road trip down to Dana Point for lunch with friends (which turned into an impromptu photoshoot). When I got dressed in the morning, I struggled at first deciding on how to dress for a warm winter day. I was excited to take a break from jeans, but I still wanted to dress like it was kind of winter. The shorts and booties were a no brainer, especially since my theory on life is that you can't go wrong with anything from Rag & Bone. Recently, I've been drawn to graphic tees thrown with casual denim so I pulled out my Bloguettes tee. Because this was clearly a summer outfit, I had to throw on a layer and I remembered my fuzzy short sleeved sweater! This sweater never gets used in the summer (mainly because I've lived in Texas during the last few summers and it's on average about 99 degrees), but it served as a great layering piece this weekend. Since it's Southern California and the winter, the evenings still get cold so it was nice that I had this to throw on top.
Style Tips: how to dress for a warm winter day
- Layers: Add light layers that will convey a wintery look. Short sleeved cardigans or leather vests are great options.
- Booties: Booties are a year-round staple making them a great go-to for warm winter days.
- Dark colors: Don't get me wrong, I love bright colors, but if you're not quite ready to bring out your Spring wardrobe it's ok to keep it dark.
